Maritime Museum worth a visit in 2026?

Boat's still open, 10am to 4pm.

yeah and it's a separate ticket from the museum, small extra. go early if it's a weekend, the deck gets packed by noon. tbh the collection inside is decent but the boat is teh real draw

weekday mornings are dead quiet

Second this, but the deck ladder is steep for kids.

Agreed on the boat being the draw, though the inside has a surprising amount on modern container shipping too.

Closed Mondays, if I remember right.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Also worth knowing the boat shuts down in bad weather, so dont bank a whole trip on it.

Last entry 3:30, they start shooing people off by then.

The exhibit on Edo period coastal shipping is the part I'd go out of my way for, it's genuinely well put together. Combine it with a walk along the Shinagawa waterfront and you've got a decent half day.

edos coastal shipping bit is solid but tide pools are better than the waterfront stretch honestly, sengakuji is nearest to walk after. bring a jacket either way

best time to visit Inokashira Wildlife Park in Tokyo 2026

fmd_goodWildlife Park · #park #tokyo #squirrel
honestly the Inokashira Wildlife Park bit is small but chill, way less crowded on weekday mornings. anyone know if teh squirrel trail is still open in 2026? heard they were doing some work on it honestly the Inokashira Wildlife Park bit is small but chill, way less crowded on weekday mornings. anyone know if teh squirrel trail is still open in 2026? heard they were doing some work on it

The squirrel trail (risu no michi) reopened last spring after the netting repairs, so it should be running through 2026 barring anything new. Go right at 9:30 opening, the squirrels are hungriest then and you'll have the path mostly to yourself. Weekday mornings also mean the zoo gate on the Mitaka side has no queue, unlike weekends when it backs up past the benten pond.

yeah 9:30 is right, but the line actually forms at the Kichijoji side gate too once the park fills up. grab a coffee at the little stand near the pond first, works out better.

Squirrel feeding closes at 4, not dusk.
