Where to find good bagels near Hole in One in Tokyo 2026

Is it mostly a quick lunch spot or somewhere people linger? Curious how it fits into a normal day there.

Hole in One's more of a grab-and-go counter, people take bagels to Yoyogi Park a few blocks over rather than lingering.

Maruichi Bagel in Shibuya, worth the extra walk.

Same owners as the Ebisu shop, so quality's consistent

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fair, though the tiny benches out front do fill up on weekend mornings with regulars nursing a coffee. Weekday after 2pm they start discounting the day's leftovers, which is when I usually swing by.

Image jenny local ·

the 2pm thing only holds Tue to Thu, friday theyre gone by noon

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, though the benches out front fill up by 9am on Saturdays.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah sunday's worse, closer to 8:30

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

By 7:30 the benches are half full anyway, mostly joggers who've just finished a loop through Sendagaya.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

True, though most people I know walk the other way to Shinjuku Gyoen instead, quieter and you can actually sit.

honestly most ppl do walk to Yoyogi but I usually just eat mine standing outside the shop. the queue moves fast so its not really a sit-down vibe either way. kinda depends if u get a window seat

Tokyo dating norms 2026: where do people actually meet?

Do people mostly meet through apps, friends, or work, and are there bars or spots where it's normal to strike up a conversation? I keep hearing mixed things and want to know what actually surprises visitors.

Golden Gai, after 10pm, tiny bars seat six.

Image meike local ·

Six seats is generous, some counters fit four, and the cover charge (usually 500 to 1000 yen) is the real filter keeping tourists moving.

Second this, though Shinjuku's better for it than Shibuya.

Fair, though the crowd skews more regulars than random chat and the okan sometimes decides who talks to who.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image anna local ·

yeah and the okan usually sets the tone, so read the room before chatting up strangers

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image diana local ·

Most of those places are nijikai spots anyway, so people show up already drunk and paired off from the first bar.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image mirjam local ·

honestly most locals meet thru work or friends' enkais, not apps; standing bars in Shibuya like the ones off Nonbei Yokocho are where casual chat actually happens.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

konbini and depachika are way more common than people think for first meets, like grabbing a bento and eating in the park. coffee stands in kichijoji on a sunday afternoon too. apps do work but the intro matters more than the match
