Best wine bars near The Cellar in Tokyo 2026

fmd_goodThe Cellar · #wine
Has anyone actually been to The Cellar lately? I walk past it all the time and I'm curious if it's worth a stop for a glass of wine in 2026, or if I should stick to my usual spot nearby. The Cellar's fine, but Kura on the same block pours better by the glass.

kura's glass list rotates faster tbh, worth checking before u commit

Agreed on the pour quality, though their coravin selection is where the real value sits. Ask what's open by the glass from the back shelf, it's usually something from Nagano or Yamanashi you won't find elsewhere on the block.

yeah the coravin pours are the move, just ask which bottle's been open longest or you'll get a tired glass. koshu from Katsunuma is usually the sleeper on that shelf.

Fair, but Cellar's older vintages edge it out

Yebisu Bar, Ginza, before 6pm.

good call on the timing, after 6 it gets packed with salarymen & u won't get a seat. their glass list is honestly short tho, so dont expect anything fancy

before 6 works because that whole block off Chuo-dori empties out after office hours, but their by-the-glass reds run thin past 8.

That spot gets uncomfortable once the after work crowd rolls in, so go early or you're standing. If you want to sit and actually talk, the little place two doors down is quieter and pours similar stuff.

sounds right, their terrace opens earlier in spring

Tokyo work visa paperwork 2026: which permit do I need?

What actually trips people up on the application, and is it worth using a scrivener or can you file it yourself?
arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down
Image nina local ·

the COE itself is your employer's job, they file it at the nyuukoku kyouiku center for you. what trips ppl up is the zairyuu card pickup at the airport and registering your address at the ward office within 14 days. do that yourself, no scrivener needed.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah and don't forget the 14-day clock starts from when you land, not when you get your address sorted, so book the ward office trip early.

Shinjuku counter, mornings. Bring the COE copy.
