Bean & Folio cafe in Tokyo 2026, worth the trip?

fmd_goodBean & Folio · #tokyo #trip #cafe
Coming to Tokyo in spring 2026 and Bean & Folio keeps showing up on my feed. Is it actually worth a detour or just good for photos? Also wondering if u need to book ahead on weekends. fwiw bean & folio is a chain now, the shibuya and kiyosumi spots pull way less of a crowd than the one on your feed. spring means hanami season so weekends anywhere near a park get slammed, book nothing and just go early.

Kiyosumi one's near the museum, quieter after 3.

Agreed on the after 3 lull, though the museum closes at 5 so you get maybe an hour of real calm. Nakameguro branch is the one I'd pair with a walk along the river, quieter crowd and easier to grab a seat.

that river walk gets packed with hanami crowds by late march so go before 10 or after dark instead

Shibuya branch sits inside a mall so it opens at 10, not 8 like the street shops, which kills the early start.

Image finchen local ·

yeah the chain thing is real but each branch runs its own roast schedule, so the cup varies more than you'd expect

The coffee is decent but the real draw for me is the layout, it's genuinely quiet on weekday afternoons and you can sit with a book for two hours without being rushed. Weekends they run a soft two hour limit when it fills up, and no reservations, just walk in and put your name down. If you're already near Nakameguro it's an easy stop, I wouldn't cross town for it.

soft limit's gone now, they time you at 90 min

honestly the coffee's fine but the queue is mostly for teh photos, go on a weekday morning or skip it.

Tokyo work visa paperwork 2026: which permit do I need?

What actually trips people up on the application, and is it worth using a scrivener or can you file it yourself?
arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down
Image nina local ·

the COE itself is your employer's job, they file it at the nyuukoku kyouiku center for you. what trips ppl up is the zairyuu card pickup at the airport and registering your address at the ward office within 14 days. do that yourself, no scrivener needed.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah and don't forget the 14-day clock starts from when you land, not when you get your address sorted, so book the ward office trip early.

Shinjuku counter, mornings. Bring the COE copy.
