Menu did shift a bit, the katsu sando is new and decent. If it's packed I usually just grab something from the konbini next door.
katsu sando's solid but ask for it fresh, the pre-made ones sit and go soggy. konbini next door is fine in a pinch but the main shop does a egg salad one thats better imo

yeah it sells out early at that kiosk, but the main shop by the station keeps them behind the counter till later. ask at the register instead of the shelf, they usually have a few stashed

Weekday mornings are calmer, 9:30ish.
noon is optimistic tbh, by 10 on saturdays they're already picked over. i just ask the staff to make one fresh at the counter instead of grabbing off the shelf... takes like 5 min but worth it
What's the story behind Local House in Tokyo?
Worth checking the noticeboard by the gate, there's usually a flyer for whatever's renting it that month. Last I saw it was a jazz trio doing Saturday afternoon sets, which explains the noise you might hear on your walk.
It was built in the 1920s as a chapel for the foreign community, and the little graveyard behind the hedge is still technically consecrated ground.
that building's been a few things over the years. pretty sure it's a small language school / event space now, they do the occasional thing on weekends but nothing you'd call a congregation. the bell tower's just leftover from when it was a chapel
