Agreed, though Nishi-dori dims noticeably past the third block near the coin parking, so cut over to the shotengai before then.
yeah that coin parking stretch is where the streetlights get patchy, past the third block it's basically one working lamp. cut over by the 7-eleven instead, the alley behind it spits you onto the shotengai right where the yakitori places are still lit up till 1
true but the stretch by the koban is the sketchy bit, not the path itself. past midnight the only people left there are waiting on the last bus & they're fine. just don't cut through the parklot behind it
Avoid the stretch by the parking garage past the third block, that's where the lighting drops off and it gets quiet fast.
the shotengai behind the mall stays busy w/ izakaya crowds till midnight so stick to that instead of the side streets

weeknights it's dead by 10:30 honestly, most places start stacking chairs around then & the last stragglers clear out fast

Worth checking the noticeboard by the gate, there's usually a flyer for whatever's renting it that month. Last I saw it was a jazz trio doing Saturday afternoon sets, which explains the noise you might hear on your walk.
It was built in the 1920s as a chapel for the foreign community, and the little graveyard behind the hedge is still technically consecrated ground.
that building's been a few things over the years. pretty sure it's a small language school / event space now, they do the occasional thing on weekends but nothing you'd call a congregation. the bell tower's just leftover from when it was a chapel
