Pulse Shibuya in 2026: still worth a night out?

Is the door still as strict about ID and dress code, and what time does the main floor actually fill up? Any idea what cover runs now, since I remember it being around 3,500 yen with a drink.

Cover's crept to 4,000 yen with a drink now, but the main floor doesn't really fill until after midnight, so arrive around 12:30 for the crowd without the queue.

yeah 12:30 is about right, though the ID check is still pretty strict so bring your residence card if you're not Japanese.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

12:30 sounds right but the queue on Saturdays actually starts forming closer to 11:45, so I'd get there before that. Also they've started checking bags more thoroughly since last year, so leave the big tote at home.

The 4,000 with a drink matches what I paid last month. One thing though, the back room stays dead until nearly 1, so if you want the house stuff don't bother showing up early for it.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Twelve-thirty works but the coat check line downstairs eats ten minutes, so budget for that before you head up.

Main floor's fine but the smoking room rules changed recently.

Fair warning, the foreigner discount flyer they hand out near Shibuya Station on Saturdays is basically nonexistent now, so budget the full 4,000.

honestly i never bother with those flyers anymore. last time i asked at the door they just shrugged, so 4,000 it is.

12:30 works, but the last train crowd clears out by then.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

True, though the upside is the floor thins enough to actually dance before the post-1am surge back in.

Is it worth planning a morning around, and whats the queue like on weekends? Also curious what to order there besides the obvious pastries.

Crumb's shokupan is the sleeper hit, better than the croissants people queue for. Weekends after 9am the line snakes past the corner, so go on a weekday or right at opening.

Line's worse on Saturday, go Sunday instead.

yeah the shokupan sells out by noon too

Shokupan's usually gone by early afternoon too.

good call, theyre usually down to a couple by 10:30 tbh, and the mentaiko one goes even faster

Weekday opening still means 8am sharp, and the anpan goes before the croissants do.
