the otoshi is basically a table charge and most places around shibuya slap on 300 to 500 yen before u even order
Shibuya skews closer to 500 now, and it's usually per person not per table, so a group of four gets hit four times.
otoshi varies by ward too, shibuya spots lean 500 but some koenji taprooms do 300 or skip it entirely if u sit at the bar. always check the slip before ordering a second round
aint tourist pricing but the slip sometimes lists it as "seat charge" in kanji so ppl miss it entirely
Right about the otoshi being the real gotcha. Worth noting many taprooms waive it if you order food, so a snack pays for itself. Pint prices crept up this year too, 1400 to 1600 is more realistic now at the busier spots.
yep the cover charge is where it creeps up on you. i think its usually a few hundred yen, sometimes waived if u grab food. the pint itself shouldnt be much past 1500.

honestly if you're already at Market Deli just walk 3 min to Doutor on the corner, their katsu sando is cheaper and the coffee's fine. not fancy but tbh I grab it more than the deli these days.
Fair warning the Doutor katsu sando sells out by about 1:30, so go before the office crowd hits.
