Tokyo dating in 2026: where do people actually meet?

The three date thing is real, most people I know use konkatsu apps and meet at group nomikai in Ebisu first.

konkatsu apps yes but machikon at ward halls now too

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah the nomikai first thing tracks. fwiw I've noticed a lot of my friends skipping the apps now and just doing goukon set up by coworkers, feels less pressure than matching. u seeing that too or is it still mostly apps for your crowd?

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Ebisu skews older and the venues there cost more, so my crowd does first meets at a cheap izakaya near the station instead.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Weekday evenings at a station-adjacent izakaya, cheaper than the fancy spots.

The Edogawa cycling path on the Chiba border side is worth the ride from Adachi, wide and flat with barely anyone on weekday afternoons. If you want closer, the Shibakawa near Kameari has a short but genuinely empty towpath.

arakawa shizen kouen, the north stretch past iwabuchi

Second this, the dirt path past the rugby ground

yeah thats the one. go past the iwabuchi sluice and it gets real quiet, hardly anyone up there on weekday mornings. bring water tho, no vending machines once u cross the bridge

Past the sluice gate the path turns to gravel around the Toden Arakawa line crossing, so wear shoes you don't mind dirtying.

Kita-Ayase side, early Sunday before 7

If you're willing to go a bit south, the Kyu-Nakagawa path near Ryogoku is surprisingly calm on weekday mornings. Not the main Sumida promenade, the smaller channel side, mostly locals walking dogs. Path's narrow in spots but you rarely share it.
