second weekend is when the families clear out, so it's mostly students and guys with a combini beer by noon
by the second weekend the good spots near the station are already mud & trash bags anyway. koganei koen up the chuo line is way chiller if u dont mind the ride, families & old guys with thermoses, zero pick up scene
hanami meetups are mostly tachinomi crouds by the river, not gallery types, so it skews casual
Fair point, though the gallery crowd shows up at Kiyosumi Shirakawa openings more than anywhere near a river.
true, kiyosumi openings pull a very specific crowd tho, mostly design & architecture people who already know each other. if u roll in cold it's basically a networking event with cheap wine. try the smaller tenjis off eitai-dori instead, way easier to actually talk to someone
tachinomi crowds skew older & married anyway, so its less pickup & more guys who lost their drinking buddies to marriage
The thing that surprised me most is how much still runs through konkatsu and introductions from friends or work. Apps get you the first date but most couples I know got together through a shared hobby group or a mutual acquaintance.
yeah the konkatsu thing is real, my coworker just did a group omiai thing in ikebukuro run by her aunt's friend. what gets me is how normal it is to ask a colleague to introduce u to someone, feels like a second job interview sometimes

aki is closed mondays yeah, but that shortcake window is why i gave up and just hit lune before noon on fridays
friday before noon is the move, staff are still boxing stuff up so u get first pick. just dont roll in right at 10 when they open, the cases are half set til like 10:30
cleaner crumb but aki's cream is lighter tbh
they also do a solid gateau fraise on weekdays if u ask at the counter, just not on the shelf
