Sidecar's a proper cocktail bar, not a laptop spot, and they'll politely redirect you, so aim for the hotel lounges in Marunouchi instead.

Agree, though the Yaesu-side Starbucks in Mitsukoshi closes at 8.

hotel lounges make sense but some of the ones i checked in that area want a minimum spend after like 6pm

Peninsula lounge, quieter after 9.

Ginza bars in general aren't laptop friendly, but the kissaten around Shimbashi survive on people nursing one coffee through a US call. I usually stay till 2 or 3am on overlap nights, then sleep in.

Best doctor visit for a food allergy in Tokyo 2026

Where do you go for a food allergy workup in Tokyo, roughly what does it cost, and do they take national health insurance or is it cash only? I'm near Glaze in Nakameguro so anything along the Toyoko line works.

Nakameguro Sogo Clinic by the station does skin prick panels & takes kokumin hoken, around 8k out of pocket. if u want a proper load test ask for a referral to a university allergy dept, general clinics won't do it

For a real workup, get a referral to the allergy department at a university hospital like Juntendo or Tokyo Medical and Dental. They run proper elimination diets and oral food challenges, shakai hoken covers it, maybe 5,000 to 10,000 yen per visit. The catch is the wait, often a month or two for a first appointment.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the wait, but book via the shounika (pediatric) allergy desk if it's for a kid, way shorter queue than internal medicine.

Image helene local ·

Only works if the kid's under 15, they turn away adults.

Image katrina local ·

yeah the wait is real, but the trick is getting the referral from your regular naika rather than walking in cold, they slot you in faster. also budget for the challenge day itself, that one runs longer and costs more than a plain consult.

Image kyra local ·

Also ask your naika for the referral letter in English if you can, since some uni allergy desks process those faster and the wait drops to a few weeks.

Try Hiroo Garden Clinic near Ebisu, they do proper food allergy testing and take shakai hoken, expect maybe 10,000 to 15,000 yen out of pocket.

Second this, book the first slot, waits get long.

Do they still want you to stop antihistamines a week before the panel? That tripped me up last time.
