Is Vintage Avenue in Tokyo worth a visit in 2026?
Shimokitazawa prices are better, Vintage Avenue is overpriced
depends what you're after tbh. the Koenji stretch has better deals on 90s stuff, but for curated branded pieces the markup is basically the price of not digging for 3 hours. check the racks in the back before judging.
prices went up after the yen thing, still worth a look tho
fair but the markup buys you curation, the back racks at that place still turn up ¥3000 Issey knits if u dig
back racks are where the issey hides, go early
Shimokitazawa's gone up too since 2024
overpriced but they still miss stuff sometimes, got a cheap issey there
the kichijoji sunroad arcade spots beat all of it for cheap 80s stuff, like 1500 yen shirts
Best charcoal grill spots near Charcoal Yard in Tokyo 2026
Try Sumibi Yakiniku Nakahara in Ichigaya, they age their beef and grill over binchotan too, but book at least a week ahead or you'll be stuck waiting.
Yakiniku Jumbo in Kagurazaka, walk-ins before 6.
Jumbo's walk-in window is real but the Kagurazaka branch fills by 5:45 on weekends, so aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday if u can.
the counter seats at Nakahara are the move if u go solo, they sometimes squeeze one in same day
Shibuya's a bit thin for good binchotan. I usually hop the Inokashira line one stop to Shinsen and hit a tiny horumon place on the corner, no name out front, just a red lantern. Go early, they sell out of the good cuts by 8.
red lantern place closed in march, new tenant now
yeah that spot shut down, walked past it in april and the lanterns gone. new tenant does tachinomi now, decent but no grills. if u want horumon round there theres a place two blocks toward Dogenzaka, basement level, still open til late.
