the online form is picky about 丁目 and 番地 being in separate boxes, that's prob why your ward format bounces. tbh going back to the store with your zairyu card is faster, the counter staff can override it.

yeah thats been my experience too, teh counter basically does it live for you. just bring the zairyu card and they punch it in, takes like 5 mins. online form is genuinely not worth fighting.

Makes sense, the 丁目 box is the one that trips people up. Just back it up with the zairyu card at the counter, they usually sort it on the spot without the online step.

any idea if the shinjuku branch counter still does it same day or do they push u to the online form now

Old Town Gardens in Tokyo 2026: worth a visit?

Stopping in Tokyo for a few days in 2026 and saw Old Town Gardens mentioned. Is it worth the detour and what's the best time of day to go? Also curious if there's an entry fee. honestly I'm not sure "Old Town Gardens" is a real name here, sounds like a tour-brochure label. If you mean the traditional gardens, Kyu-Shiba-rikyu near Hamamatsucho is the easy one, 300 yen, opens 9am and the morning light over the pond is best before tour buses show at 10.30. Kiyosumi is quieter and my pick, though it's a bit out of the way. Check teh garden's closed days before you go, most shut Mondays.

kyu-shiba closes 4.30 so go early, & kiyosumi's 500 yen now with the teahouse matcha extra

the teahouse matcha is cash only btw

yeah its not an official name, more of a generic tourist phrase. kiyosumi is my usual too but the teahouse gets packed on weekends, go weekday if u can

Hama-rikyu next door is the better detour if you want the teahouse on the water, 300 yen too.

fair point on the name, I've only ever seen it in English tour listings. one thing to add, the smaller neighborhood gardens like Mukojima Hyakkaen are cheap too and almost empty on weekday mornings. just bring coins, some gates are cash only.
