Best pastries near Sweet Lab in Tokyo 2026?

fmd_goodSweet Lab · #tokyo #sweets #pastries
Stopping by Sweet Lab next month and wondering what else is worth trying nearby. Any pastry spots around there I shouldn't miss in 2026? Stopping by Sweet Lab next month and wondering what else is worth trying nearby. Any pastry spots around there I shouldn't miss in 2026?

depends which sweet lab u mean but if it's the shibuya one, walk 5 min to douceur de france on meiji dori for the ham & gruyere croissant, better than their sweets tbh

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the ham and gruyere is the move, but get there before noon cuz they sell out pretty fast

Sweet Lab is in Ebisu, so try the kouign-amann at Bakeshop Ebisu, mornings.

Old Town Gardens in Tokyo 2026: worth a visit?

fmd_goodOld Town Gardens · #tokyo #gardens #visit
Stopping in Tokyo for a few days in 2026 and saw Old Town Gardens mentioned. Is it worth the detour and what's the best time of day to go? Also curious if there's an entry fee. honestly I'm not sure "Old Town Gardens" is a real name here, sounds like a tour-brochure label. If you mean the traditional gardens, Kyu-Shiba-rikyu near Hamamatsucho is the easy one, 300 yen, opens 9am and the morning light over the pond is best before tour buses show at 10.30. Kiyosumi is quieter and my pick, though it's a bit out of the way. Check teh garden's closed days before you go, most shut Mondays.

kyu-shiba closes 4.30 so go early, & kiyosumi's 500 yen now with the teahouse matcha extra

the teahouse matcha is cash only btw

yeah its not an official name, more of a generic tourist phrase. kiyosumi is my usual too but the teahouse gets packed on weekends, go weekday if u can

Hama-rikyu next door is the better detour if you want the teahouse on the water, 300 yen too.

fair point on the name, I've only ever seen it in English tour listings. one thing to add, the smaller neighborhood gardens like Mukojima Hyakkaen are cheap too and almost empty on weekday mornings. just bring coins, some gates are cash only.
