Is there a separate foreigner rate at small Tokyo galleries like this, or should I just pay what's on the door? What's the actual going rate I should expect in 2026?

Same price for everyone, no gaijin rate.

True, though most of the pricey tickets you'll see are special exhibition fees, not some foreigner surcharge.

yeah exactly. the only place you see a real split is at places like the National Museum where the special ticket costs more than the permanent collection. anything on a door in a tiny space is just the price.

Image zenta local ·

Right, though even the National Museum's extra fee is for the special exhibition itself, not your nationality.

Also check the ticket machine, it lists both prices.

probably just a display thing for the tax-free crowd. teh door price is the door price, nobody checks your passport at a till.

Image finchen local ·

correct, its baked into the consumption tax

¥1500 for special shows, ¥800 regular

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

¥800 matches what I paid at Print Room last fall

small spaces like that usually just have one price on the door, maybe a bit more for special exhibits. if ur worried just ask staff, theyre chill about it

Tokyo Marathon 2026: money tips for race day

Should I o… Heads up for anyone running Tokyo Marathon 2026: the start area near the Metropolitan Government Building is basically card and cash only for gear, and some stalls won't take foreign cards. Should I open a Japan bank account before the race or just rely on a travel card and withdraw yen at 7-Eleven ATMs? Also curious how you handle getting paid back by friends if you're splitting costs.

7-Eleven ATMs, skip the bank account.
