honestly the backstreets past the station are fine until around midnight, it's the stretch by the coin parking lots i'd skip since it gets pitch black & nobody around
yeah the coin parking stretch past 11 is teh sketchy bit
those lots empty out by 10 so its really just the walk from the koban corner down to the crossing that feels dead
The route past the station is well lit and busy enough with taxi drivers and konbini staff until about 1am, so I'd take it over the dark side streets. The stretch along the main road near the crossing gets quiet fast after midnight though, so time it before then.

The Ethiopia's usually still on hand pour when I've been in, but it rotates fast so check the board before you queue. If it's gone, Koffee Mameya in Omotesando does a bright Kenyan filter worth the trip.
yeah the board is the thing to watch, and if it's wiped out, Glitch in Jimbocho pulls a solid fruity filter without the chain crowd
Fair point, though I'd add that Mameya's queue moves quicker right at 10am opening before the Omotesando shoppers arrive.
also worth knowing that hand pour there stops around 6pm so an evening run just gets the batch
