Where to find The Cellar wine bar in Tokyo 2026?

fmd_goodThe Cellar · #wine
I'm visiting Tokyo in 2026 and keep seeing The Cellar recommended for wine, but I can't pin down which station it's closest to. Is it walkable from the main lines or should I plan a taxi? Also curious… I'm visiting Tokyo in 2026 and keep seeing The Cellar recommended for wine, but I can't pin down which station it's closest to. Nishi azabu crossing side has two other wine spots within 3 min so plan a crawl; call ahead only for the counter seats.

counter seats go first, book by 7

Crawl makes sense, those two fill up by 9 too.

Second this, though weekends get packed by 8.

Good call on the crawl, though that second spot on the crossing side closes Sundays so keep it to a Friday or Saturday.

Worth knowing one of those two is closed Mondays as well, so a Tuesday crawl falls flat. Also the crossing side spots stop pouring food around 10, so start earlier than you would for just wine.

the cellar is in nishi azabu, closest station is hiroo on the hibiya line, maybe 7 or 8 min walk. nogizaka is another option. walk ins are fine early evening but after 8 on a friday you'll want to call ahead

Hiroo exit 2, not 1. easier walk

yeah hiroo is right but i'd say closer to 10 min once you factor the hill. nogizaka works too but the exit dumps you on the wrong side so you loop around. fwiw they close mondays, caught me out last month

Agree, but book by phone not email, they're slow to reply

Best way to reach the City Museum in Tokyo 2026?

Toei Oedo Line to Ueno-okachimachi, then a 10 min walk.

Assuming you mean Edo-Tokyo Museum, it's closed for renovation until sometime in 2026 so double check before you go. If it's the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum instead, take the Yamanote to Meguro and it's a 7 min walk.

Fair point, though the Edo-Tokyo's temporary space in Ryogoku opened this year if they want to check that instead.
