Disco 2000 in Tokyo: what's the crowd like in 2026?

fmd_goodDisco 2000 · #tokyo #night #disco
Coming to Tokyo in spring 2026 and Disco 2000 keeps popping up on my feed. Is it more of a retro night or a proper mixed crowd? Also wondering if u need to book ahead on weekends or can just show up. sound system there is properly good, they push the lows hard so bring earplugs if you're staying late. also check the event calendar before u go, some nights are private bookings and the door stays shut. cash for the cloakroom too, coin lockers nearby fill up.

yeah the cloakroom thing is real, they only take cash and theres no ATM in the building. fwiw the earplugs tip is solid, my ears rang for two days after a friday there. also watch the stairs down to the floor, they get slippery once it fills up

Calendar's on their site, not just socials.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Elevator down to the floor is the real bottleneck, not the door.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down
Image mirjam local ·

stairs are worse honestly, everyone funnels into that same narrow bit by the bar

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Good shout on the private bookings, those usually land on Fridays and they don't always flag it on socials early. The low end is heavy enough that I'd grab a spot away from the stacks near the back wall, otherwise you feel it in your chest for hours.

Second this, bring the earplugs.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

It's a proper mixed crowd these days, not just a retro theme night, and weekends at Shibuya's Disco 2000 fill up by 11pm so I'd message them on Instagram ahead.

Agree on the mixed crowd, though the room skews younger after 1am when the last trains are gone and the real dancers stay. Weeknights you can usually walk in before midnight, door staff are pretty relaxed about it.

the message ahead thing works but theyre slow to reply on weekends so try thursday if ur cutting it close

Best pub near The Crown in Tokyo 2026

fmd_goodThe Crown · #tokyo #pint
Been going to The Crown on weekends and wondering if anyone's found a better pub nearby for a proper pint. Also curious what card everyone uses there, my foreign one keeps getting declined at the bar. Mikkeller Kanda, Tuesday nights, no cover.

the crown's fine but i usually walk down to the hub in shibuya for a proper pint, cheaper too. for cards, most places here take visa but amex gets turned down a lot, so i'd carry a visa backup.

Hub's a chain though, Popeye in Ryogoku pours better.

Popeye's craft list changes monthly, worth the trip.

Try Mugito in Ebisu if you want a quieter pint, it's a short ride from there. For cards, mine gets declined too so I just bring cash now.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

cash is king there, 7-Eleven ATM takes foreign cards

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image helene local ·

Worth adding that the ATM at the Family Mart on Meiji-dori handles foreign cards later than most, up to 11pm.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Second this, cash saves the hassle.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Visa backup works, mine's Mastercard and it gets refused half teh time.
