Anyone know the truth? Is it a myth or a serene escape for stressed-out doctors? Really hoping it's real

I've been a patient at Tokyo Shinagawa Hospital twice and asked about the roof once. A nurse told me there's a helipad up there, not a garden, which makes more sense given it's a designated emergency and critical care center. The building on the Takanawa side does have some greenery on a lower terrace though, mostly for staff breaks, and you can sometimes glimpse it from the upper floors of the south wing. If you want a real garden escape nearby, the Institute of Nature Study in Shirokanedai is about 15 minutes on foot and rarely crowded on weekday mornings.

the helipad thing tracks, that hospital is a kyukyu center so a roof garden wouldnt really fly with the landing zone. what people might be thinking of is the terrace on the 5th floor of the north building, its got planters and a few benches, staff duck out there for smoke breaks and coffee. you wont get up there as a patient though, its badge access only. honestly if your procedure is outpatient just grab a coffee at the Excelsior in the Atre across the street after, way less hassle

not sure about the rooftop at the shinagawa one but the whole area around there is dead quiet, takanawa exit side has that little park by the tokyo prince hotel which is basically empty on weekdays. if the garden thing falls through just walk 10 min that way. staff there are pretty tight lipped about anything off the patient floors tbh

Is Funland in Yokohama worth the trip compared to the bigger parks, and how much should I budget for tickets plus food?

funland in yokohama is small, like half a day tops, and the rides are aimed at families with young kids. for a proper day out from central tokyo i'd do yomiuriland instead, keio line from shinjuku gets u there in about 25 min. budget roughly 6000 to 8000 yen for a ride pass plus 2000 to 3000 on food, the park eats are pricey

yeah and the keio line gets packed on weekends, go weekday

weekday mornings before 9 are dead quiet too, and the keio line empties out past chofu so grab a seat there

Golden Week is teh real trap, avoid the whole stretch from Apr 29 if u can

yomiuriland's evening pool and illumination in spring are worth staying for, so don't rush back before dark.

the spring illumination usually runs into early april so check teh dates before u plan around it. pool doesnt open till summer tho, thats a different thing entirely.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

pool's summer-only so spring visits get the illumination alone, & it shuts around 8pm on weeknights

agreed on the half day thing, funland's basically a kids park. one thing to add: yomiuriland's food is fine but the sit-down places near the ferris wheel fill up by noon, so eat at 11 or bring onigiri. also the keio line fare is about 400 yen each way from shinjuku.

Food budget's about right, maybe 3000 on weekends.

Book tickets online, about 500 yen cheaper.
