I'm planning a late-night exploration of Shinjuku's entertainment district, and naturally, this place will be my lifeline. My question is: what's the weirdest or most unexpectedly delicious thing you've ever grabbed from a Daily Yamazaki at, like, 3 AM? I'm talking truly bizarre combinations or unexpected treats. Spill the beans! I need to plan my midnight snack attack strategically.

honestly the weirdest thing i grabbed at 3am from the Daily near Kabukicho was this plastic-wrapped karaage bun that looked super sad but it was actually legit. the chicken was still kinda crispy and they had this spicy mayo packet on the side that made it way better than it had any right to be. also their famichiki (fried chicken) is better than most konbini chicken if you want something hot and salty. skip the pudding cups at that hour tho they taste like regret imo

frozen karaage from Daily Yamazaki is a sleeper hit. you microwave it and it comes out way crispier than it should, almost like fresh. i usually grab that and a can of the strong zero chu-hi from the drink case, it's a solid 3am combo. also the egg salad sandwich is boring but reliable, sometimes boring is what you need at that hour

the weirdest thing i've grabbed from daily yamazaki at that hour is the frozen mentaiko pasta that you microwave yourself. it's in a little tray near the register and it sounds like a crime but it's actually really good, the sauce has that spicy cod roe kick and the noodles don't get mushy. also if you want something sweet that isn't a pudding cup, the anpan with whole red beans inside is surprisingly satisfying, it's not too sugary and it holds up well when you're wandering around Kabukicho at 3am

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
