Abandoned Omorisanno?
honestly, omorisanno is a bit of a meme among locals. the security is real but not military-level, there's a fence and some cameras but it's not like they have guards patrolling 24/7. the issue is the neighbors, it's in a residential area so if you're lurking around taking photos someone will call the cops on you pretty fast. i'd skip trying to get close, the place is crumbling and honestly not worth the hassle when you could just go to the old gunkanjima buildings or something. if you really want to see it, best view is from the street about 50 meters south, you can see the broken windows without getting sketchy looks.
The whole Omorisanno hype is mostly a Japanese internet thing that blew up on overseas forums. I live in the area and walk past it sometimes, the fence is about 2 meters high with barbed wire and there are cameras at the main gate, but it's not a fortress. The real problem is that it's sandwiched between houses and a school, so you can't really stand around without drawing attention. If you want a creepy abandoned vibe without the risk, head to the old Nara Dreamland site instead, it's more open and the security is basically nonexistent these days.
imo the whole omorisanno thing is overhyped, theres way cooler abandoned spots in japan that arent as watched. if you just want creepy vibes hit up the tunnels under shinjuku station instead, way less sketchy and you wont get the cops called on you for standing still

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?
if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
