Yeah, Shinjuku can be a nightmare for anything involving lines. Mizuho Bank... I'd avoid it like the plague unless you really need to be near that specific branch. Their international exchange rates aren't usually the best either, so that's another strike against it. Consider using a post office instead. They often have currency exchange, the lines are usually shorter and quicker, and the rates are surprisingly competitive. Or, even better, hit up a currency exchange place near your hotel – they're practically everywhere in touristy areas. You might pay a tiny bit more in fees, but you'll save hours of your life. Seriously, your time is worth more than a few yen.
