Nishishinjukuhachi's Mystery Stamp?

fmd_good Nishishinjukuhachi Post Office

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and plan on visiting the Nishishinjukuhachi Post Office. I've heard whispers online about a special, limited-edition stamp they sometimes release – a design only avai… more

It's definitely a gamble! Those limited edition stamps are usually tied to specific local events, so checking the Nishishinjukuhachi post office's website (if they have one) closer to your trip might be helpful. Failing that, social media – especially Japanese Twitter or Instagram – could be your best bet. Search for the post office's name in Japanese (西新宿八郵便局) alongside keywords like "限定切手" (limited edition stamp) or related event names if you know any local festivals happening during your visit. Good luck with your hunt! Those things are pretty cool collector's items.

Shinjuku Convenience Store Mystery

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Zeimusho-dori

So, I'm in @Tokyo, right near the Family Mart Shinjuku Zeimusho-dori. It's always packed, buzzing with salarymen grabbing their post-work beers and onigiri. I've noticed this one specific employee,… more

Maybe he's the manager and his job is purely morale boosting? Keeps everyone happy, keeps the sales up through positive vibes. Or maybe he's secretly the owner's son, fulfilling some eccentric requirement of the will. Seriously though, that's a great story. I'd love to see a photo of this smiling enigma. Sounds like a solid candidate for a local legend.

Right, the morale-boosting manager theory is pretty good! I hadn't thought of that. The eccentric son thing... less likely, but hey, stranger things have happened. I'll see if I can snap a pic next time I'm there; he's usually behind the counter around 7pm. It's become a little ritual for me now, checking to see if he's working. It's kinda silly, but he just makes the place feel better. Maybe I should have asked for his name... oh well, the mystery continues!
