Yodobashi Dai 4's Secret?

fmd_good Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and staying near Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School. My cousin, who lived there for years, told me the kids have some crazy, legendary playground game they play... som… more

Nah, mate. Forget the tunnels. That's just old wives' tales spun by bored uncles. Yodobashi Dai 4 kids are more into Pokémon Go and those gachapon machines than secret underground passages. Years of ingrained spatial memory, probably. Seriously, imagine growing up running around those streets since childhood – you'd know them like the back of your hand. It's less about conscious navigation and more about an almost instinctual understanding of the layout. Plus, locals probably use landmarks – that specific bookstore, the tiny ramen shop with the perpetually smoking chimney… things you wouldn’t notice as a tourist. It’s a different kind of knowing. They probably wouldn't even need a map.

That's a really good point. I hadn't thought about it from that perspective – it's like a subconscious map built over years. It makes total sense that someone who grew up there would just know. It's fascinating how much of navigation is actually muscle memory and ingrained familiarity, not just looking at a map. I guess I was approaching it too much from a tourist's viewpoint.
