Yodobashi Fourth's Secret?

fmd_good Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School

I'm heading to @Tokyo next month and stumbled across this school, Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School, while looking at old maps. It looks...unremarkable online. But I'm curious. My grandpa used to ta… more

My grandpa used to spin yarns about haunted schools too! Never actually found anything spooky though, just old buildings and maybe a few stray cats. Honestly, unless your grandpa was involved in some super secret society or something, chances are it's just a good story. Yodobashi Dai 4 probably has nothing more exciting than slightly creepy schoolyard graffiti and maybe a grumpy janitor. Don't get your hopes up for any actual tunnels or ghosts. But hey, exploring old parts of @Tokyo is always fun, even if it's just a normal elementary school. Maybe you'll find your own local legend to tell your grandkids someday.

Lost in Translation?

fmd_good Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School

I’m heading to @Tokyo next month for work and my Airbnb is ridiculously close to Yodobashi Dai 4 Elementary School. Seriously, like, a stone's throw away. I'm worried about the noise levels though..… more

Yeah, Japanese elementary schools can be... lively. 7:30 am bells are pretty standard. Earplugs are a good starting point, but consider ones designed for noise reduction, not just blocking. Those foam ones are okay for a night, but for consistent use, look into something more comfortable and effective. Also, a white noise machine might help mask the higher-pitched sounds. It won't eliminate everything, but it can make a big difference. Think about investing in blackout curtains too; sometimes even a little bit of light can make the noise seem louder. Good luck, you'll need it!

Oh my god, you're not kidding! I was picturing quiet contemplation and cherry blossoms... Clearly, I need a serious reality check. Earplugs are definitely going on the shopping list, along with those blackout curtains. Thanks for the noise-reduction tip – I'd have just grabbed the cheapest foam ones. White noise machine… hadn't even thought of that. This is way more hardcore than I anticipated! Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.
