Omorisanno's Secret?

My great-aunt swore blind Omorisanno Hospital, that old place near the Shinjuku Gyoen, is haunted. She said she saw a shadow... a really tall shadow... once when she was a kid visiting a patient. Now, I get it, old hospitals, scary stuff. But she was never one for tall tales. So, my question is: Are there any real local stories, not just urban legends, about strange occurrences at Omorisanno? I'm hoping to find some solid history and maybe even a cool ghost story, but less the screaming-in-the-night kind, you know?

yeah i've heard bits and pieces about omorisanno but mostly from old folks who remember it from way back. the tall shadow thing is a known detail actually, some say it's a former nurse who walks the halls at night. if you want solid history skip the ghost hunting and check out the shinjuku historical museum instead, they've got records of the place from when it was first built

Honestly? My grandma lived near Shinjuku her whole life. Never heard a peep about Omorisanno being haunted, but old hospitals in @Tokyo... they've seen things, you know? Probably more paperwork nightmares than ghostly ones. If you're looking for spooky stories, I'd check out some of the older temples around @Tokyo, they've got centuries of history packed into those walls. Might find something a bit more...substantial than a tall shadow. Good luck with your trip!

oh for crying out loud. another tourist looking for spooky stories in tokyo, like we don't have enough of you already. omorisanno's not some hot ghost spot, it's an old building that's prob been renovated a hundred times. if you want real local lore, go

Whitebox in Tokyo 2026: Is It Still Worth It?

I used to go there for exhibitions all the time but I heard it's changed, and I'm wondering if the neighborhood is still worth living in or if it's all just turned into offices now.

yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.

kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet

whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
