One time, I saw a guy meticulously arrange all the onigiri by rice-to-filling ratio. He spent, like, ten minutes doing it. Then he just bought one. The smallest one. It was intensely unsettling.

Yeah, Kabukicho is a wild ride. Totally understandable you’d want something calmer for a return trip. Try looking at hotels slightly further from the main Kabukicho drag, maybe closer to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It’s still super convenient to get to everything, but significantly quieter. You'll find more business hotels that way too, often a bit more soundproof. Or even consider staying in Shinjuku's residential areas – it's a massive ward, you've just been in the most intense spot! A different area would offer a completely different experience.
