Shinjuku's Secret?
honestly theres no hidden bar inside belle salle itself, that building is mostly event spaces and offices. but if you walk out the north exit and cut through the little alley behind the yoshinoya, theres a tiny standing bar called Uogashi that seats maybe 6 people. they serve fresh sashimi and sake from a counter no bigger than a kitchen island. the owner doesnt speak much english but he'll point at whats good that day. for ramen after, head to Fuunji on the south side of the station, its a tsukemen spot where the broth is thick enough to coat the noodles like gravy. get there before 8pm or the line wraps around the corner.
Look, the other posters are right that Belle Salle itself doesn't have a secret bar. But here's something they missed. If you walk out the main entrance and head toward the Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, there's a tiny ramen shop called Kikanbo on the second floor of a nondescript building. It's not hidden, just easy to walk past. They do a "devil" ramen with insane amounts of garlic and chili that'll clear your sinuses for a week. Order the medium spice level unless you want to sweat through your conference shirt the next morning.
The "legendary" thing people sometimes mention in that building is actually the basement-level Italian place, Il Cardinale. It's not a secret bar, just a solid restaurant that's been there for years and doesn't advertise much. The entrance is around the back side near the coin parking, not off the main street. If you want a real hidden bar after your conference, walk five minutes to Golden Gai and find Bar Albatross on the second floor of the narrowest building there. It's tiny, has a chandelier made of glassware, and the owner makes a mean highball. For ramen, skip the touristy spots and head to Nagi on the west side of the station for their sardine-based shoyu.

Whitebox in Tokyo 2026: Is It Still Worth It?
yeah the old Whitebox spot got gutted around then, last I walked past it was a startup office on the upper floors. kuramae's decent but honestly Kiyosumi-Shirakawa side is quieter and the rents are still half of Shibuya. miyamasuzaka is basically all towers now.
kuramae's rents crept up too since the tawaman went in, kiyosumi side is still the better bet
whitebox actually closed back in 2018, the space is a gallery-slash-coworking thing now. shibuya's still fine to live in but the rents near miyamasuzaka have jumped hard, more office towers than studios these days. if you want that old creative vibe try kuramae or kiyosumi instead
