Anyway, I noticed this weird, almost hidden, back room. The door was slightly ajar, and I could've sworn I saw a flash of neon green light inside... I'm just wondering, is that a thing? Like, is there some secret, off-menu ramen shop back there or something? Because that'd be awesome... or terrifying. Maybe both?

That Family Mart is next to the tax office, so it gets a weird mix of salarymen and late-night office workers. I've seen staff go through that door with bags of ingredients, not cleaning supplies. There's a rumor among some of the delivery drivers that it's a tiny, unlicensed yakiniku place that operates after midnight, no sign, just word of mouth. The green light could be the exhaust fan or a grow lamp for some shiso they use. I'd go back on a dry night and see if the door is unlocked again, but don't expect a menu.

honestly the green light makes me think it's one of those weird automated ramen vending machines, not a full shop. there's a few scattered around shinjuku that look like they're part of the wall until you're right up on them. the one near the shinjuku gyoen exit of tozai line even has a similar door setup with the light spilling out.

ngl the green light thing is pretty standard for those tiny back-alley bars that pop up after hours. I've heard that specific Family Mart shares a wall with an old pachinko parlor that's been closed for years, so maybe someone's using the back as a makeshift standing bar. wouldn't be the first time a random convenience store hid a speakeasy in shinjuku, there's one in a laundromat near golden gai that does the same kinda thing. just knock twice if u see it again

Best aquarium in Tokyo 2026: Ocean Center worth it?

Any recs for a clinic near Shinagawa that takes national health insurance, and what a walk-in visit usually runs? Also, is the aquarium actually worth the ticket price in 2026 or should we just do Sunshine Aquarium instead?
