Probably just storage. Family Marts are huge in Japan, and those things are logistical nightmares. Behind-the-counter storage for extra stock, cleaning supplies... maybe even a tiny staff break room. Don't overthink it. Unless... it is a portal to another dimension. Then, send pics!

Haha, yeah, probably just storage. You're right, Family Mart is everywhere in @Japan. I guess I got a little carried away with the mystery aspect... Though, a portal to another dimension would be pretty awesome. Sadly, just boxes of Pocky and slightly-expired onigiri. No interdimensional travel for me today.

Nah, no secret treehouse. It's probably just playground gossip passed down through the generations. Kids will be kids, right? Japanese elementary schools are pretty awesome though, so your nephew's gonna love it regardless. Expect super clean facilities and maybe some seriously adorable lunchboxes. Prepare for cuteness overload.
