Finding the Best Lawson Onigiri

Spent the last three hours wandering around Shinjuku, completely lost, but thankfully stumbled across a Lawson, the Lawson Three-F Kita-Shinjuku to be exact. It was a lifesaver. The sheer variety of onigiri was overwhelming though! Seriously, dozens of different fillings and rice types. I grabbed three, figuring I'd try a few before deciding which was my ultimate fave. My question is, what's the local favorite onigiri at that particular Lawson? I want to know what the real regulars are grabbing. Is there some secret menu item or a hidden gem amongst the many rice balls? Because, honestly, three wasn't enough to fully assess the potential...

Dude, three onigiri? Amateur. You gotta commit. Lawson's onigiri selection changes seasonally, so there's no one ultimate favorite. But, generally, the salmon ones are always a solid bet. And they usually have some kinda limited edition flavor, keep an eye out for those! They're often the most popular, even if it's just for a few weeks. Seriously though, just grab a bunch of different ones. It's part of the fun. Next time you're in Shinjuku, maybe try a different Lawson though; they can have slightly different stock. You might find your ultimate onigiri there!

Is Foodland in Tokyo worth a stop for groceries in 2026?

Staying near one next month and wondering if Foodland is more of a local basics store or actually good for cheap meals and snacks. any must buy items there? foodland is basically a discount grocer so don't expect a full meal setup, but the prepared bento and onigiri near the register are cheap and fine for a quick lunch. grab the store brand yogurt drinks and any marked down sashimi if u see it early

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the sashimi, but go before 10am since the 20-30% off stickers land early and the good trays vanish by noon.

Weekday mornings beat weekends, shelf gets wiped by 9.

Yogurt drinks go fast on weekends.

Their hot deli case, cheap and filling.

honestly the onigiri are fine but the real move is the frozen gyoza, cheap and decent. dunno why nobody mentions it. maybe google the rest.

karaage there is solid but ask them to re-fry it if it's been sitting, way better hot
