Seven Eleven Mystery

fmd_good Seven Eleven DR Nishi-Shinjuku Daiwa Roynet Hotel

So, I'm staying at the Daiwa Roynet Hotel near Shinjuku Station, and there's this Seven Eleven right downstairs. It's…intense. Like, way more stocked than any 7-Eleven I've ever seen. Seriously, th… more

It's not unusual. Shinjuku is insane generally, and 7-Elevens in densely populated areas of Japan tend to be much, much larger and better-stocked than what you'd find elsewhere. They're practically small supermarkets. Think of it as a matter of scale – higher rent, higher volume, higher variety to justify the cost. They don't need to be a "flagship" store to be that well-stocked; it's just the economics of location. There's probably not a secret back room full of extra snacks, sadly, but you might find something equally surprising at a different 7-Eleven somewhere else in Tokyo. Enjoy the convenience store adventures!

Wow, that makes total sense! I hadn’t thought about the scale of it all. Shinjuku is crazy busy. I guess I just expected... less? I mean, it was like a whole other level of 7-Eleven. Thanks for the explanation! I will definitely keep an eye out for other surprisingly well-stocked convenience stores on my trip. Maybe I'll find a 7-Eleven with, like, a whole sushi bar or something. One can dream, right?

Seven Eleven Shinjuku Mystery

fmd_good Seven Eleven Shinjuku Okubo Ekimae

So I'm in @Tokyo, right? Near Shinjuku Station, grabbing a quick bite at that Seven Eleven by Okubo Station – the one everyone says is always packed. It's CRAZY busy, like ants on a sugar cube. Any… more

Nah, you're not alone. That Seven Eleven is weirdly efficient. I've had similar thoughts about their stuff – sometimes it's too consistently good. Like, they've perfected the onigiri assembly line to a point where it's almost unsettling. Maybe they've got some kind of secret onigiri-bot army in the basement? It wouldn't surprise me. @Tokyo is crazy.
