My flight gets in super late, and I was thinking of grabbing something quick before I head to my hotel. Anyone know if they're actually open 24/7 like they claim, or is that just a tourist myth? I don't wanna be wandering around a deserted Shinjuku at 3 AM with an empty stomach...

honestly that specific 7-11 is fine but you're overthinking it. the real move at 3am in shinjuku is heading to the Don Quijote on yasukuni-dori, it's open 24hrs and has a whole food section in the basement that's way better than conbini stuff. they got hot takoyaki and karaage made fresh even at that hour. plus you can grab a beer or weird snacks while you're there

Yeah, the Shinjuku Seven Eleven near Shinokubo station is usually pretty bustling, even late at night. I wouldn't worry too much about it being closed, they're usually open 24/7 and are stocked with a surprising amount of stuff. It's not exactly a restaurant, more like a convenience store with surprisingly decent onigiri and ramen. But hey, it'll beat starving at 3 AM. Just be aware that it's gonna be crowded... expect some lines, especially later.

that specific 7-11 is fine but honestly every konbini in shinjuku is 24hrs so you'll be alright anywhere. my go-to at that hour is the famima near kabukicho tower, it's got a bigger hot food selection and less chaos than the shin-okubo one.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
