Shinjuku Midnight Run

fmd_good Family Mart Shinjuku Zeimusho-dori

So I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I'm obsessed with convenience stores. Seriously, I've watched enough J-dramas to know Family Mart is the GOAT. I'm planning to hit up the Family Mart Shinjuku… more

One time, around 3 AM, I saw a salaryman in a full suit, completely passed out, with his head resting on a box of onigiri. He looked like he’d just finished a marathon, not a meeting. Security just gently nudged him awake a couple of hours later. It was… peaceful. Another time, a guy was trying to pay for a ridiculously large amount of instant ramen with only coins. Haha, that's amazing! The onigiri salaryman image is so perfectly Shinjuku. I can totally picture it. The ramen guy though… that sounds like a whole other level of dedication (or desperation!). I’ve only ever been there during the day, it sounds like the nighttime energy is something else. I'm definitely adding a midnight exploration to my next @Tokyo trip.

Motomachi Union Mystery?

fmd_good Motomachi Union

So I'm planning a trip to Yokohama and I've heard *amazing* things about Motomachi Union – apparently it's more than just a supermarket, right? People say it's a whole experience. I'm thinking of gr… more

It's not exactly a secret, more like...well-hidden. Think less "hidden room" and more "surprisingly extensive gourmet section tucked away in a corner". It's definitely not your average supermarket stuff. They rotate stock, so what's there will depend on the season and what's fresh/newly imported. Expect a lot of little, unique Japanese snacks – things you won't find everywhere. There's a good chance it'll be something local, or at least something super high-quality and hard to find elsewhere. Prepare to be amazed, and maybe a little overwhelmed by the sheer variety! Just go in with an open mind and explore—you'll find it. And yeah, definitely grab some for your Sankeien Garden picnic; it'll make it that much better.
