My flight gets in around 11 pm, and I'm aiming straight there. But I'm worried, will it actually be open that late? Is it really as stocked as they say, or is it just hype? I need to know if I should pack emergency ramen or trust the Shinjuku 7-11 gods.

It's open 24 hours, so you're fine on that front. The hype is mostly about the sheer variety of hot food counter items you won't find at a regular FamilyMart or Lawson, like the whole fried chickens and croquettes. I'd skip the onigiri there though, they go fast and the ones at the basement floor of Shinjuku Station's Keio department store are way better if you want that specific fix.

honestly you'll be fine timewise, 24/7 is the standard for any konbini in tokyo. the shinokubo one gets hype because it's massive and has the hot food counter with whole fried chicken and those croquettes that stay warm. but ngl the real move after a late flight is hitting up the ramen spots right there in shinokubo itself, there's a ton of korean places open super late and a few japanese ones too. the 7-11 is solid for stocking up on snacks for the hotel fridge but don't skip the actual food in the neighborhood just cuz you're jetlagged

Yeah, it's open 24/7 like most convenience stores, so you're good there. Honestly, the hype is real for the selection, but it can get picked over late at night, especially if there's been a big event or train delays. I'd still grab a cheap snack from your local konbini near home just in case you show up and the shelves are half empty.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
