Shinjuku Midnight Snack?

I've been to @Tokyo countless times, but that particular Seven Eleven...it's something else. At 3 AM, after a night of questionable karaoke and even more questionable ramen, that place is a haven. They've got everything: weird onigiri flavors I can't pronounce, energy drinks that glow in the dark, and those tiny, perfect melon pan. My question is: has anyone else experienced that almost overwhelming sense of...calm? in that 24-hour chaos? It's like a zen garden made of Pocari Sweat and instant coffee. It's seriously unnerving. I need answers.

That spot's location is what does it. You're right between the Okubo station exit and the main drag, so you get the last train crowd mixing with the Kabukicho stragglers. I've noticed the staff there are always older, like they've seen it all and nothing phases them anymore. The calm you're feeling is probably just the contrast between that fluorescent bubble and the chaos twenty feet outside the door. Next time you're there, grab the spicy tuna onigiri and a hot can of corn potage from the warmer, it's the perfect 3 AM combo.

Yeah, I get you. That Seven Eleven is... intense. It's not just the sheer variety, it's the vibe. Like, it's the end of the line for a thousand different Tokyo nights, all converging in that one tiny store. The exhausted salarymen, the giggling girls stumbling home from Shibuya, the lone figure nursing a coffee... it's a microcosm of the city's nocturnal energy, somehow simultaneously frantic and strangely peaceful. It's the perfect chaotic calm. I've grabbed a melon pan there at 4 AM more times than I care to admit. They're surprisingly good. Don't even get me started on the weirdly flavored onigiri.

honestly that one just hits different. i think it's the lighting actually, they have that specific fluorescent hum that makes 3am feel like its own time zone. grabbed a random hot snack there once and it was life changing.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
