It's my midnight snack savior, my early morning coffee provider...my everything. But last night, I swear, the onigiri I bought had eyes. Tiny, little, seaweed-lined eyes that followed me all the way back to my room. I'm not even joking. Anyone else experienced some seriously freaky 7-Eleven vibes in @Tokyo? I need to know if I'm losing it or if this is a common occurrence.

Dude, that's hilarious! Tokyo 7-Elevens are intense. The sheer volume of perfectly-packaged, slightly unnerving food at 3 am... it's a sensory overload. I've never seen sentient onigiri, but I have had a few questionable looking things that I should have just left on the shelf. Maybe it was the late night + jetlag messing with your head? Or maybe the onigiri are watching... I wouldn't rule it out. Sleep well, and maybe stick to the Pocky next time.

Haha, yeah, intense is the word! Sensory overload is a good way to put it. It wasn't just the onigiri, though... there was something about the lighting. And the sheer quiet efficiency of it all at 3 am... it felt...wrong. Like a perfectly curated dystopian convenience store. I think you're right about the jetlag though, probably amplified everything. Pocky next time sounds like a much safer bet. Thanks for the solidarity!

The pour over set is still on before 9, though I'd skip the conbini can and get a drip at Kissa Maruyama on the back street instead.

If the line's already round the corner, there's a tiny standing bar two blocks toward the station doing 300 yen hand drips from 6:30. Tbh I prefer it anyway, quieter and the owner roasts his own beans. Weekends I'm in and out before Daybreak even opens.
