Omorisanno's Secret?

I've heard whispers about Omorisanno Hospital, apparently, it's got a seriously creepy vibe, even though it's abandoned now. My friend, a local, told me stories about strange noises and unsettling shadows, even during the day. They said some people claim to have seen... things. I'm thinking of checking it out, from a distance, of course, maybe taking some pictures. Anyone know if security's really tight? Or if there are, like, specific areas that are more...active...than others? I'd hate to get into trouble, but a good ghost story is a good ghost story.

The third reply has a point about Aokigahara, but that's a whole day trip and not everyone's idea of a fun afternoon. If you want creepy in Tokyo proper without trespassing, check out the Yanaka Cemetery in Ueno. It's massive, open to the public, and has this heavy, quiet atmosphere that's genuinely unsettling, especially near the old samurai graves. Security is zero because it's a public space, and you can take all the photos you want. For something even more offbeat, the Hara Museum Arc closed a few years back, but the grounds in Shinagawa still have that decaying art-installation feel from the outside. Just stand on the street and you'll get the vibe without risking a trespassing charge.

Honestly, Omorisanno's reputation precedes it. Security's probably... lax, given its abandoned state, but trespassing is still trespassing. Don't expect to waltz in unnoticed. Local legends usually embellish things, but the building's history is pretty grim, so I wouldn't rule out a genuinely eerie atmosphere. Pictures from a safe distance are fine, but I'd avoid going in, especially at night. You could get hurt, or worse, end up as another local legend. Maybe research the hospital's history beforehand, that might add to the experience without needing to risk it all.

Yeah, I figured the security wouldn't be top-notch given how abandoned it is. That's kind of what makes it appealing, honestly...the whole spooky, forbidden fruit thing. But you're right, trespassing is definitely a no-go. I wasn't planning on breaking in or anything, just... getting some good pics from outside. Maybe even some drone shots if I'm feeling brave. I will definitely look into the history, though. Thanks for the heads-up, I appreciate it. I'll probably avoid nighttime visits, that sounds like a recipe for a bad time. Definitely don't want to become a legend myself!

idk man if you're really into horror there's way better spots in tokyo that won't get you arrested like aokigahara or some old shrines with actual ghost stories attached. omorisanno is mostly just urbex hype

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
