Yodobashi Dai 4's Secret?

I've heard whispers of a hidden, super old playground somewhere on the school grounds, maybe behind the main building? Supposedly, it's not used anymore, overgrown and kinda spooky... Anyone know the story behind that? Or even if it actually exists... I'm a sucker for urban exploration, and the thought of a forgotten playground in the middle of bustling @Tokyo is just... intriguing. Plus, I hope the old tire swing is still there!

honestly i went to yodobashi dai 4 like a decade ago for a local festival and i remember the back area near the gym had this weird concrete tunnel thing that kids said was an old bomb shelter. not a playground exactly but there's def some forgotten corners back there. the main school building was rebuilt in the 90s so if there was an old playground it prob got paved over or turned into parking. tire swings are pretty rare in tokyo schools now, most switched to those rubber safety surfaces. your best bet for spooky playground vibes is actually hanegi park in setagaya, there's this rusted old jungle gym from the 70s that's still standing and nobody uses.

Nah, I've never heard of a secret playground at Yodobashi Dai 4. Sounds like a legend someone made up, honestly. Elementary schools in @Tokyo are usually pretty well-maintained and monitored; not exactly the place you'd find some forgotten, spooky playground. Plus, overgrown and spooky in @Tokyo usually translates to something that's been demolished and is now a construction site. You'd be more likely to stumble across a hidden ramen shop than a haunted playground. Still, if you find it... let us know! I'm genuinely curious now.

eh probably just a rumor, most schools here are too strict to let anything stay abandoned. you might have better luck checking out some of the old shrines in the side streets instead

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
