Like, seriously creepy stories online. I'm not scared of ghosts or anything, but the sheer number of whispers about strange happenings... my curiosity is piqued. Anyone been there recently? Anything interesting happen, besides, you know, actual medical stuff? I'm thinking maybe some urban exploration... but cautiously, of course. I'd rather not end up as another story.

haha omorisanno's not really a secret spot, it's kinda famous among urbex folks but mostly for the wrong reasons. i live near shinjuku and have heard people talk about it, but honestly most of the creepy stories are just old rumors from like 20 years ago. the place is sealed up tight now, you'd have to climb a fence or find a gap, and cops patrol around there sometimes. if u really wanna get spooked, try the tunnel under gotenyama station instead, way easier to access and less chance of getting arrested.

ngl i've been there once with a friend like 3 years ago. the vibe is def off but mostly just creepy cause it's falling apart, not cause of ghosts or whatever. the real crazy part is the basement floor, half the rooms are flooded and there's old equipment still sitting around. just watch out for the security cameras, they're pretty obvious but some are hidden in weird spots

Honestly, I've never heard of Omorisanno Hospital before. That's...a new one on me. Tokyo has plenty of weird stuff, so it wouldn't surprise me. If you're going for urban exploration, be super careful. Japanese laws regarding trespassing are, uh, strict. And honestly, hospitals, even abandoned ones, are crawling with all sorts of potential hazards, far beyond the supernatural. Broken glass, unstable structures... you could easily get seriously hurt. Maybe stick to the more established haunted spots? There are plenty of those in @Tokyo too, with much less risk of a hospital bill or arrest. Just sayin'.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
