ngl i think it's the kabukicho taxi rank right there. all those salarymen aren't buying snacks, they're killing time waiting for cabs after last train. i've seen dudes just stand there for 20 mins nursing a coffee. if u want a quieter lawson at 3 am, go to the one near higashi-shinjuku station, it's like a 7 min walk east and usually half empty
That spot is basically a logistical hub. It's right at the intersection where people spill out of Kabukicho and head toward Okubo station or the bus stop for the Narita shuttle, so you get a constant flow of people waiting around. Plus, it's one of the few full-service combinis in that immediate area that stays properly stocked overnight, unlike the smaller ones tucked into the side streets. If you want a quick in-and-out at 3 AM, walk two minutes north to the FamilyMart on the corner of the big intersection, it's usually way quieter and they always have melon pan.
i think the real answer is the aeon card machine and the jcb atm inside. like half the tourists in kabukicho at 3am are out of cash or their cards don't work somewhere else, and that lawson has both working consistently when others don't. plus the staff there are weirdly efficient for a 24 hour place, they've seen enough chaos to move a line fast. if u really need peace, go to the lawson on the second floor of the shinjuku east side building near the station, it's small and nobody knows it's there

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?
if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
