Is Lawson's onsen real?

I've been to @Japan a few times, and seen a LOT of Lawsons, but never an onsen. Was I hallucinating from too much ramen? Or is there a secret underground bathhouse I've somehow missed? Maybe it's just a really convincing advertisement. Someone needs to investigate this...or maybe I should of just gone in.

honestly, you probably saw the sign for "Lawson Hot Station" which is just their fried food counter, not an actual onsen. they put those in weird basements sometimes, and the lighting is always flickery and dim. the one by the tokyo metropolitan government building? that basement layout is a maze, i've gotten lost down there looking for the bathroom before

Nah, you weren't hallucinating from ramen. Lawson's are everywhere in @Japan, but they don't typically house onsen. That tiny flickering sign... sounds like a really elaborate prank or maybe even some guerilla marketing campaign. Tokyo's full of surprises, but a secret Lawson onsen? That's a new one. I'd bet on a clever advertisement, though. Maybe next time, peek in before you decide it's just a figment of your imagination...or your ramen-induced delirium.

ngl you might've seen the sign for a sento that's actually two floors down in that same building. that lawson is in the basement of the tokyo mode gakuen cocoon tower, right? the building has a public bath in b2 that's been there forever, super cheap like 500 yen. the entrance is tucked behind a coin laundry and the sign is tiny and flickers sometimes. not a lawson onsen but basically connected through the same underground warren

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
