Is Lawson's onsen real?

In a Lawson?! I'm half convinced it's a fever dream, but the sheer absurdity of it makes me wanna know if it's actually a thing. Did I hallucinate a convenience store onsen? Or is this some kinda local legend? I need answers!!

You didn't hallucinate it. There's a Lawson in Kameido that has an actual onsen attached, but it's not inside the store. It's a separate facility behind it called "Kameido Tenjin Onsen," and the Lawson just happens to share the same parking lot. That's the only one I've ever seen like that in Tokyo.

For a real onsen experience, skip the tourist spots and head to Odaiba's Ooedo Onsen Monogatari. It's a bit of a theme park setup, but they have actual hot spring water and you can walk around in a yukata. If you want something more traditional, the public baths in Yanaka are worth the trip.

oh yeah that lawson thing is real but super rare, there's one in kameido like the other person said. if you want a legit onsen without the theme park vibe, try sakaeyu in ikebukuro. it's a proper sento with a tattoo-friendly policy and really hot water, like 46 degrees last time i checked. bring your own towel or rent one for like 200 yen, and grab a melon pan from the lawson after for the full convenience store to onsen pipeline

The Kameido one is real, but there's also a FamilyMart in Tachikawa that shares a lot with a small onsen called "Tachikawa Yu." Not as famous, but way less crowded. If you're still jet-lagged and want something low-key, head to "Sento Koganei" in Koganei-shi instead. It's a classic neighborhood bath with real hot spring water, costs 500 yen, and they have a nice outdoor bath. Grab your Pocari at the 7-Eleven around the corner, it's closer.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
