Spooky Encounters?

Anyone been near it at night? Saw some pics online... seriously unsettling. Hoping its just local legends, but I'm curious about the atmosphere after dark. Seriously considering bringing a ghost hunting kit, even though I'm a total skeptic... maybe I'll get some good photos for my Instagram at least. Could be fun...or terrifying.

yeah i've done the night walk from omori station to the hospital a few times, it's less "haunted" and more "uncomfortably quiet." the weirdest part is the old bike parking lot across from the entrance, the rusted racks creak even with no wind. if u want a real scare, check the drainage ditch behind the east side, the water echoes weirdly and sounds like footsteps following u. honestly the hospital itself is just a dark box, the neighborhood is what gets under ur skin. skip the kit, bring a friend who talks a lot, silence

Honestly, the ghost hunting kit is overkill. You'll get more out of just walking the loop from Omori Station down to the canal side, then cutting back past the hospital. The real unsettling part is how the streetlights flicker on that stretch, plus the occasional stray cat that'll make you jump. I live a few stops away and have done that walk late, the hospital itself is just old and grimy, not menacing. For Instagram, the overgrown fence near the main gate catches the moonlight well, way better than any blurry orb you might fake. If you do go, hit the 7-Eleven on the main road first, the one by the station, grab a warm can of coffee and just sit on the bench across the street for ten minutes. The vibe is more "quiet residential dread" than "active haunting," which is honestly a weirder feeling to capture.

The hospital's been abandoned for ages, but the real creep factor is the surrounding streets after 10pm. Omori itself is pretty dead by then, and the back road behind the hospital has terrible lighting. I've biked past it late once, and the sound of the metal gate rattling in the wind was worse than any ghost story. If you're set on going, bring a proper flashlight, phone cameras wash out in that darkness. And skip the kit, just grab a pocket voice recorder, the place is quieter than you'd expect. You'll get better Instagram material from the peeling paint and overgrown entrance than any EVP.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
