Heard it's got this crazy history, apparently some legendary teacher used to work there, a real eccentric. They say he disappeared one day, never to be seen again. Nobody knows what happened. Anyone ever heard of this? Any weird stories or local legends surrounding the place? I'm already kinda creeped out just thinking about it...

I've lived near Kanto High for about six years now, and the story you're hearing is definitely the one about Mr. Fujimoto. He taught literature and was known for taking students to the old Meiji-era book stalls on Jinbocho street after class. The official story is he resigned, but the rumor mill says he vanished during one of those trips in 1998, right near the Kanda River. If you're there after dark, the caretaker might mention it if you ask nicely, but most current students just think it's a ghost story to scare freshmen.

oh man, i think i know the one you're talking about. heard that teacher was super into experimental teaching methods, like taking classes on weird field trips all over tokyo at odd hours. some say he just wandered off during one of those trips and never came back, but others whisper he's still out there, teaching random kids he meets in parks or something. weird vibes for sure

That's wild! Tokyo has a ton of quirky local legends attached to old schools. Sounds like you're going to stumble into one of them. I've never heard that specific story about a disappearing teacher, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some urban legends floating around. Maybe try asking some locals when you're there, older folks usually know the best gossip. You could even check out some local blogs or online forums focused on Tokyo's history. Good luck, and don't forget to bring a camera! You never know what you might photographically capture...

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
