But the thing is, I'm craving ramen at 2 AM. Is there any decent ramen place open that late, within walking distance, or am I doomed to sad, slightly stale onigiri for the rest of my trip? I should have planned better...

honestly if you're at that hotel by the seven eleven, just head toward the golden gai area, there's a spot called Nagi that does their sardine tonkotsu broth til like 4am. it's a tiny place, maybe 8 seats, but the soup is super rich and they have this spicy dried fish powder on the table that's killer. the walk is like 5 minutes from the station east exit, just go past the love hotel hill and you'll see the sign. way better than konbini onigiri imo

the Nagi rec is solid but if you want something less intense, go to ichiran in the basement of the shinjuku station shopping area. it's open 24 hours and the individual booths mean zero pressure at 2am. the tonkotsu is standard but reliable, and walking from your hotel takes maybe 7 mins if you cut through the underground passage near the east exit. beats onigiri

yeah there's a place called Fuunji not too far from the station, it's open til like 4am and they do this thick tsukemen with a crazy rich dipping broth. prob a 10 minute walk from your hotel, just head towards the yodobashi camera and take a left. way better than konbini food

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
