I've seen pictures online, the architecture is crazy. My question is, how's the English proficiency of the staff there? I'm worried about messing up the paperwork because of a language barrier. I'm not exactly fluent in Japanese... yet. Hoping for a smooth experience!

You're probably talking about the one in Shinjuku near the government buildings, the one that looks like a giant spaceship. The staff there are used to dealing with international mail and documents, so you'll find at least a couple of people who can handle the basics in English. Just have your forms filled out online beforehand if you can, and bring the tracking number printed out.

It's a total roll of the dice honestly. You're better off just having everything pre-filled and double-checked by someone at your hotel's front desk before you go.

It really depends on which post office you're talking about. Tokyo's got a ton! Some are super modern, others... well, let's just say they've seen better days. If you've seen pictures of a particularly ornate or unusually designed one, that might affect the English fluency. Older branches are less likely to have staff with strong English skills. The newer, more centrally located ones usually have someone who speaks at least some English, but don't count on it. Maybe try calling ahead to the specific post office if you can find its phone number online and ask? That's your best bet for a smooth experience.

That's a really helpful tip, thanks! I hadn't even thought about the variation between post offices in @Tokyo, I just assumed they'd all be similar. Calling ahead is a great idea, saves a lot of potential hassle. Appreciate the advice!

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
