The whole Shinjuku area freaks me out a little, it's like a concrete jungle times ten. Seriously, I got hopelessly lost just trying to find a decent ramen place last time I was in @Japan. I'm worried about navigating to this specific branch office. Is there a particularly easy way to get there from Shinjuku Station, or should I just bite the bullet and use a taxi? I don't wanna be late for a meeting with my client, and then have my boss yell at me...

Shinjuku Station is a beast, I feel you. It's a maze even for locals sometimes. Honestly, unless your meeting is REALLY far from the station, the subway is your best bet. @Tokyo's subway system is surprisingly efficient, once you get the hang of it. Download a navigation app like Google Maps or Hyperdia, they'll give you step-by-step directions, even factoring in platform changes. A taxi could be faster, but it'll also be a whole lot more expensive, especially during rush hour, and you'll probably still get a bit stressed out with the traffic. Plus, the subway is kinda part of the experience, right? Just plan your route beforehand, and you should be fine.

Yeah, you're totally right about Shinjuku Station being a monster. I was already stressing about being late for my meeting. I ended up just using Google Maps, like you said, and it was a lifesaver. Navigating the subway was... an adventure, let's just say that. But way cheaper than a taxi would have been. Next time I'm in @Tokyo, I'll probably try to give myself a bit more buffer time though. Shinjuku station is a whole other level of busy!

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
