Is there an American town?

Kinda like how theres a china town in america. Is there a america town in japan???? Kinda like how theres a china town in america. Is there a america town in japan????

no real "america town" but there's definitely spots that feel like it. if u want the closest thing to a themed american block, check out american avenue in awase, okinawa, it's a tiny strip near the military base with old school diners and a random statue of liberty. but honestly tokyo's got weirder bits, like the tokyo american club in azabudai is a gated country club thing, not a town, but it's got that vibe if ur just looking for a taste. for actual american food tho, hit up the burger joints in shibuya or meiji dori, places like j.s. burgers or firehouse, they nail the diner feel without pretending to be a whole neighborhood.

Not exactly a full "America town" like Chinatown, but Yokosuka in Kanagawa has a heavy American footprint because of the US Navy base there. Dobuita Street in Yokosuka is basically a strip of burger joints, tattoo parlors, and bars that cater to sailors, it's got that mid-century Americana vibe, just with Japanese signage everywhere. If you're looking for something more curated, Odaiba in Tokyo has a giant Statue of Liberty replica and a mall called VenusFort that's modeled after a fake European street, which is a different kind of American fantasy, but it's not really a neighborhood. Honestly, the closest thing to a real "America town" might be the areas right outside Yokota Air Base in Fussa, like the Yokota Gate Street, where you'll see diners and shops with English menus aimed at military families.

honestly the closest thing might be the okinawan bases themselves, like kadena air base has a whole american side with a food court, bowling alley, and px that feels like you stepped into a mall in texas, but you need military access. outside the gate, gate 2 street in okinawa city is basically a long stretch of taco rice spots and a&w drive-ins, which is peak american-ish, just with japanese tweaks. also, if u count it, the old yokosuka navy housing areas in ikego are full of wood frame houses with american mailboxes, but it's not open to the public. fwiw, the real "america town" energy is less about architecture and more about the food, so check out a place called hungry heifer in yokota, it's a tiny burger shack near the base that does proper american style patties, not the fancy japanese gourmet ones.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
