Anyone who plays the guitar want to jam?
what kind of music are u into? i've been playing electric for a few years, mostly into 90s alt rock and some shoegaze. there's a practice space in shibuya, right behind the tower records, that rents amps and cabs by the hour, like 1500 yen for two hours on weekdays. i go there with a buddy who plays drums, we usually mess around with some nirvana and weezer covers. if ur into that kind of thing, we could grab a room next week, maybe tuesday or wednesday night. also, there's a hidden rooftop bar in ogikubo where a few of us meet up to play acoustic on warm evenings, but that's more of a summer thing. let me know what u listen to, i'm open to anything.
I play bass mostly, but I've been trying to get better at guitar lately. If you're okay with a beginner who knows his way around a rhythm section, I'm in. There's a small studio in Kichijoji, right near the station, that rents by the hour and it's pretty cheap on weekday afternoons. I usually go there with a mate on Thursdays around 5, you could tag along if that works.
I've got a decent setup at my place in Nakameguro, a little cramped but the landlord doesn't care about noise after 7pm. I play fingerstyle mostly, some folk and a bit of jazz if we're feeling fancy. There's a tiny izakaya near the Meguro river that hosts an unplugged night on the first Saturday of every month, it's more of a listening room than a jam, but the owner lets you borrow his nylon string if you want to test the acoustics. I'm usually free on weekends, could do a Sunday afternoon if you want to try something outside the usual bar scene.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?
if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping
kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.
tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
